Aparajito 1956
On the streaming platform I watched the film on there was only one comment implying that the story in Aparajito is essentially the same as Pather Panchali and that “Ray needs to find a new plot”
My reply:
While there are some similarities in the themes of the first two Apu films, I personally found Aparajito to be worthy of its own admiration. Through some incredible cinematography and a gently unfolding narrative this film success in further developing the humanist outlook of Pather Panchali. If anyone is reading this, I don’t think you’ll regret watching the film.
