Absolutely brilliant acting by the two leads. Especially the daughter. It had a solid start about how both characters battle with the father's dementia. However it loses it track by delving into vampirism and mixing drama with action. The main theme of the story gets dulled down by the bad acting from the antagonist as well the unnecessary fight scenes.
I love how it's set in a remote area on the isle of mann. Representing the isolation they endure and how both are waiting for the day the dementia will take the father away.
Despite this film being 40 something years old it outshines most horrors today. The practical effects were truly gut wrenching. It's such a simple story about survival and trust but yet I am completely hooked.
You could feel the paranoia and the fear within each character. Constantly questioning who is infected and who isn't. Despite most horrors today where the protagonist wins and they are the 'hero'. This film makes you question the 'protagonist's' sanity throughout the 90ish mins.
