i’m a huge fan of horror, sci-fi, and adventure

tittered between a three and four star film throughout the the entire runtime, but the the car fight felt so inauthentic to the thriller base the story set up. also, while the build up of the entire film was fantastic, the ending left a bitter taste in my mouth. it was anti-climatic and saw it from a mile away. everything else was great.
it was definitely out there compared to the original. it has a much higher budget for set designs, but the scares felt like they lacked budget (those cgi blood splatters are eye sores).
anywho, there is also moments throughout where the camera pans feel so long, or characters are just staring at something (we cannot see). this takes up an easy third of the movie, and i find that rather annoying.
also, that last act is where this film finally…
the film felt shallow with the exception of some clever lines and when it forgets it’s trying to tell an important message. maybe the point would have been more suitable for something other than in a barbie film? there were occasional scenes that felt like mattel was coming straight through the screen to pick-pocket the audience, and i was annoyed that the third act mostly became a ken sob story. however, there was a lot i did like too. the…
i watched the whole series for the first time a little over a year ago. i can’t bring myself to care much about the huge amount of limited series on disney plus, but i will say that this film is my favorite in the star wars saga (and i’ll die on that hill). this is the storytelling star wars needs to aim for.
update: so i did care a little about the tv series and watched andor this week (dec. 2, 2023). it’s superb.
