This is my first ever written review. I’m nervous. Ok lets begin shall we. My first thought after it ended was I’m sad this movie is sooo slow because it’ll be impossible to get my friends to watch this masterpiece. Unless they’re like aussie vegan spectrummy vibes.
But that slowness is the magic. My favorite example of this was the arc shot in the peep show room when he’s holding the phone, waiting for Jane to enter, we watch him…
Omg the scenery…was so beautiful that it made me sad I might never spend 10 days farming in the Japanese countryside. Anyways this movie was visual poetry for letting go of childhood trauma (mundane trauma, not like violent trauma) and limiting beliefs. I’m mindblown by how these ghibli movies somehow make me feel something profound in a slice of life story. no sex or death or mystery plot devices. The landscapes, weather sounds, and little authentic visuals like the cars passing the slower car made me forget this wasn’t a live action movie. It tops my list w Princess kaguya
