Think it's a 5-star movie, for me, just because of Sid's arc. It has so much depth and he's such a well-written character. I notice new things every time I see scenes involving him. He's the only one out of three who has experienced loss (his father and then Tara) and has an original voice and the potential to be an artist (the other two end up joining their father's existing business). Made me really reflect on how deep racial and ethnic hatred is. There was maybe some liberal fallacy within me as a teenager which believed that a way to counter systematic dehumanization and otherization actively is through more interaction and engagement. If people could empathize with others and see each other's humanity, they would be able to overcome their biases and prejudices. This movie lays bare that misconception.
