The Lover 1992
It’s so disturbing how this is basically Lolita but there is no acknowledgement of the perverted nature of the man, I think because it’s told from her perspective, and it’s so sympathetic in its portrayal of the pedo (like he’s presented as some pathetic dude) it really comes across as condoning his behaviour. Like he is obviously so creepy, but it’s a lot more ambiguous than Lolita because Lolita is more overtly childlike (in the book at least). Like what…
