  Broadway by Light 1958

  I always enjoy watching films when they are created by painters and photographers, and then looking at their photographic work after viewing. Seeing how their personal style and understanding of camera processes translates to motion on screen is pretty compelling. Klein did a really gritty, vibrant portrait of two boys on Broadway in 1958 that I liked. Four years later he made this in Broadway. Also seeing Chris Marker is a friend and collaborator on this was cool, I think about La Jetee all the time.

  what an enjoyable and unique project to have up your sleeve for tilda. love the cabinet of dr. caligari references and the set design. timeless. more painted sets and props and theatrical staging in modern screen productions please!
