This is my favorite Star Wars movie. While not a part of the main "Skywalker Saga", the original story put together is incredible. Despite Revenge of the Sith putting the key characters into their Episode IV starting positions, this film does a great job of exploring the other characters not mentioned in the other films. It cleverly comes up with a reason for the Death Star's obvious fatal flaw.
This movie is by far the best of the prequels. The story comes together at this point, with Palpatine revealing his true identity, and Anakin turning to the Dark Side. The fight on Mustafar is excellent, truly a display of good vs evil. Ewan McGregor, as with the previous two films, portrays Obi-Wan brilliantly, especially during the latter half of the film where his character goes through so much. While not a reason to rate the film, the memes are also the strongest here, with the Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise tale that starts Anakin's turn.
This one along with the Phantom Menace is usually at the bottom of watchers' Star Wars ranking lists. One of the prime complaints is Anakin Skywalker's character, which is understandable. However, it does make sense that he's somewhat emotional and moody, given his childhood. Again, George Lucas' poor script writing is on display here.
This one might be the weakest in the entire Star Wars franchise. While I have a bit of a soft spot for it from playing through it in Lego Star Wars multiple times, the movie isn't up to par with the rest. Darth Maul's character doesn't have a whole lot of backstory, and though the lightsaber fight between Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan and Maul is top-tier. Anakin's character might be considered a bit annoying at times, though that is probably due more…
