A tense character study of characters that are actually philosophically and intellectually fascinating, delivered in such a crisp, and simple manner. Absolutely gripping, with top notch acting from the entire cast, and perhaps the best writing I've seen in a long, long time. The stand out achievement is the editing- absolute genius. Ralph Fiennes, of course, leads the film with such towering emotional command, and equally commanding is Isabelle Rosellini's subtle genius.

Find yourself a theatre with comfortable seats, and enjoy this epic. They made this with 9 million dollars? That's unimaginable! It feels like a 100 million dollar film at least.
The film is HUGE, in its scale, its scope, its story, its themes, its emotions, its performances, its ambition, and its sheer grit and will. We had Ben Hur, we had Lawrence of Arabia, we had the Godfather(part 1 and 2), we had the Lord of the Rings, we had Oppenheimer, and now we have the Brutalist.

The film starts off with such innovative, fresh, creative ideas. The writing, direction and editing of the first act feel like an ode to the craft of filmmaking. Then the film's pace drops for us to go through some character studies for the rest of the film. All the characters here are so empathetic, selfless, loving, caring and benevolent. All of them touch your heart, and you get goosebumps due to character moments multiple times. Although some of the dialogue…

WFL makes you go WTF for as long as you're watching it. Almost all the story and character decisions in the movie are insensible. The film tries and fails terribly to deliver its message throughout the runtime, and chooses explanation in the end instead. But it immediately takes a huge dump on itself. Performances which drained the actors, technicians who were given almost nothing to work with by the idiot writer - director (absolute shit), and tons of money gone to utter waste. It's infuriating and disrespectful to everyone who worked hard for the film and the audience who put themselves through this punishment.
