  I'd heard for a long time that "Godzilla" was about "the fear of the bomb", so after watching "Minus One", I came back to the OG and I just saw... Sorrow. The film is a sorrowful letter full of pain and guilt. There's not so much "fear" of Gojira/the bomb as there is an exhausted, fatalistic resignation - best illustrated by the train dialogue, with its "bunker again, that's no good news" *checks watch*.
