The whole movie is just responding to the unfortunate never ending question of ‘is this the only ounce or experience of love you’ll ever have’ and answers with ‘if that is the case then so be it’
And alex said it made him feel like it was saying ‘am I doomed to be the interim therapist for a baddie’
The way Didi is shot makes everything feel so real like an actual memory instead of just a movie. The warm colors, natural lighting, and slightly grainy look make 2008 feel both cozy and awkward at the same time.
They move the camera like it’s right there with chris. Some shots feel messy on purpose, just like real life.
Timothée Chalamet is incredible as Dylan, capturing all his weird charisma and contradictions without feeling like an impression. The way the film recreates the 1960s folk scene is so vivid, and James Mangold directs it with such a balance of intimacy and larger-than-life mythmaking. It’s the kind of movie that doesn’t just tell you about Dylan; it makes you feel like you’re right there in his world.
p.s. Always loved Joan Boaz’ music love her more because of this movie!
