Holy shitttt. The subversion!!! This movie covers a serial killer's final murder spree and it tells the story out of order. That sort of thing usually annoys the shit out of me because that tactic usually just unnecessarily makes shit confusing and is rarely pulled off well. This one does it very well. The relationship between the protagonists is laid out in such a way that makes you empathize with both of them at different times, and then question yourself…

Woman of the Hour 2023
Based on the true story of the serial murderer, Rodney Alcala and the encounter Sheryl Bradshaw had with him in the 70's. The discomfort and fear Sheryl felt was captured very well and was not lost on me. I agree with the gripe others have had with the ending feeling abrupt -- that could have been captured better. There were also some parts that felt underdeveloped and out of place. That being said, I was engaged the entire time and I cried at the end. Definitely worth the watch.

A Quiet Place Part II 2020
This was a very satisfying sequel that I actually liked more than the first one. Sure, it's still sort of silly and unpolished in a way that is unsurprising due to being directed by John Krasinski, but I think I liked it more because he wasn't acting in it as much. I just can't look at his goofy face and take him seriously in a scary movie lol. But all the big action beats were satisfying and had me feeling appropriately stressed.

The Fly 1986
I've been dipping my toes back into horror this spooky season and I started with The Fly. I could not have started on a higher note! I was immediately hooked and shit got GROSS. This movie is paced extremely well and just incredibly well executed. *Highly* recommended, if you can handle some body horror.
