Amazing performances (I love you Geraldine Page) but I feel that the film loses itself within the atmosphere it has built. What results is a detached and incomplete thesis on isolation, mental illness, harmful family dynamics and misogyny— it’s an attempt at a social drama without delving into the social aspect. I can’t say I am entirely surprised though as I doubt Woody Allen has the integrity to properly tackle these issues.

The Last Black Man in San Francisco 2019
The relationships we have with the places we call home are so complex, and this movie touches beautifully on a few of those facets. It is very raw but perhaps a little too much so—it feels intimate yet scattered.

The Trip to Bountiful 1985
I feel like we all have a Bountiful. A place that permeates our memory and seems so far away. A patch of grass on a tiny hill that would overlook the neighbourhood. A street where you would drink iced coffee and attempt tricks on your scooter. Even the parking lot to some big box store you would go to every week hoping your dad would let you pick out candy.
I hope you all get to return to your Bountiful one day.Translated from by
