  Western audience: Absolute cinema!

  By no means is this a bad film. On the contrary, it’s a well-crafted one. It actually transcends the label of poverty porn through its exploration of universal themes like loneliness and the beautiful fragility of life. Director Payal Kapadia authentically depicts the lives of working-class individuals through its three lead female characters. The acting, the lighting, the mood—it all feels natural.   The team behind Barbarian has done it again! Companion is another fun thriller best experienced going in blind. It's entertaining throughout, and Sophie Thatcher proves she’s a star in the making.
  My only complaint is that, like Barbarian, this one falls off a bit at the end. But aside from that, Companion was a blast!
