A great opening shot, a mediocre family drama that's hamstrung by what mostly amounts to a gimmick, and a great ending shot. Good on Steven for taking creative risks though even if they don't pan out.

Takes away everything that made the first two films great and replaces it with nothing. Two and a half god damn hours (if you make the same mistake I did and watch the assembly cut because it's allegedly better) of Ripley hanging out and shooting the shit with like twenty nearly identical 40-60 year old bald British chimney sweepers, set in a "prison" that's actually a bunch of abandoned power plants and sewers that presumably were quite cheap to shoot…

If you pause the film at 1 hour 15 minutes and 25 seconds, there's a huge wall of Ritz crackers you can see for a fraction of a second in Patricia Arquette's apartment. This is never referenced before or after, and barely anyone online seems to have mentioned it.
