being independent means new and fabulous
I didn’t love some of the parallels made to the Disney movies, especially the one during Owen’s bullying, likening him to Quasimodo in the town square. Owen sees these films as a way to express himself, not to fit himself into the story.

many questions remaining.
including: was this intended to be a commentary on society? or a realization that there is no perfect solution to ending aggression? giving up control and policing to the “objectivity” of a robot is a bias-less idea in theory, but the robot is trained and mirrors the biases of humans already. looking at this from a modern critical lens of AI and new technology, the idea of relegating human control to the error-less machine is so flawed!
