  i’m so glad i decided to give it a chance despite not liking claymation since childhood.

  i laughed and cried and grieved and felt alive all at once. this world so desperately needs the stories like this; genuine and deeply moving, full of soul and hope. 

  sarah snook’s narration is what makes it even more beautiful.

  мы вырастим собственный сад и позаботимся  о нём так, как никто не позаботился о нас.
  
  относила это очень тихое и очень громкое кино в себе 3 дня, думая о детях фукусима и заливаясь слезами. думала и о том, как эти дети не персонажи вовсе, и вся эта история - маленький осколок, отражающий ужасающую реальность.

  корээда повествует мягко, не доводя до излишнего драматизма, почти заставляет подумать, что ты смотришь какой-нибудь slice of life, пока он неторопливо подводит тебя к болезненным ударам…

  ‘you saw nothing in hiroshima’ indeed.

  it’s been a while since a movie left me with so much conflicted feelings so i took some time to process it. 
  i chose ‘hiroshima, mon amour’ as my introduction to the french new wave. 
  and oh how i wanted to connect with it, to sympathize with elle’s personal tragedy and the anguish of accidental lovers who are doomed to part ways.
  and maybe i could if resnais wouldn’t decide to place them in…
