Okay, Gladiator II was epic enough with big battleships, sharks in the Colosseum and loose heads being swung around. However, everything fell flat because of that godawful script. First and foremost I found “The Reader” a beautiful film, especially the utilization of light and darkness. Unfortunately, the cinematography is where my positivity ends.
While I appreciated Kate Winslet, the plot and dialogue — and the special effects make up — made it impossible for me to feel for the characters and ultimately took something away from the acting performances.
