Spike Lee knocks it out of the park Again!
I had a bit of an issue with the appearance of the characters during Vietnam flashbacks, given the war was some 50+ years ago and they still look the exact same way (although I’m not sure if it was intentional for some artistic purpose).
Lee’s stylistic moments/montages might not work for some in general, and as much as I love them, I did find a few distracting and unnecessary.

this is what I expected Swallow to be!
didn’t really care too much for the more surreal/abstract parts, but the overall film kept me hooked till the very end.
amazing performance from the lead actress (also director and screenwriter) Marina de Van, particularly in a role as physically and emotionally demanding as this. It’s clear this was a passion project for her.
fighting in my soul to not give this half a star because I’m aware it was a passion project for the filmmaker, but we the (black) audience endured all that brutality, racially charged violence, and traumatic imagery on screen for what?
your average cliché biopic ending?
