  Many basic things are needed to sustain life. Oxygen, water, food. Their value may be glossed over, but never are they minimized. Art, on the other hand, is consistently ridiculed and diminished as a superfluous luxury. I’d posit it is just as necessary. Synonymous with humanity even. The soul demands it like lungs demands oxygen or the spirit freedom. In taking a breath, Sing Sing releases a guttural cry, expressing humanity at an unparalleled level of vulnerability.
