What a film.
The performances carry this film. The writing is great but the performances and chemistry between the actors really worked for me.
Most films, even coming of age dramas, don’t do silence or moments of quiet that well. This one, so much was communicated even in the quiet pauses. And I had no problem buying into the direness of Autumn’s crisis and imagining myself in her shoes. Truly raw emotion.
I love a coming of age rom com and this one was perfect.
The subject matter was just real and dire enough to actually invest in the story and its characters. But still light hearted enough to have fun. Does a great job of juxtaposing how senselessly mean kids can be in the teen years with also showing how incredibly warm and loving kids can be to each other as well.

Quite a strong directorial debut from star Anna Kendrick! The film dramatizes the story of Rodney Alcala, the infamous Dating Game Killer of the 1970s. It focuses on the dating game episode where Alcala wins a date with Cheryl Bradshaw while interspersing flashbacks of Alcalas previous attacks to give the audience insight into his charm and wit that allows him to fly under the radar and onto national television after having murdered multiple women.

The movie is supposed to be a supernatural horror thriller and I liked the premise. There’s this family in a cabin in the woods trying to survive some end of the world event. They’re tied to this house because apparently the house is the only thing that keeps you safe from whatever evil is lurking in the woods and if it touches you, it consumes you.
