What an excellent film by Bong Joon-Ho. Typically I’m not a sci-fi movie fan, but everything about Mickey 17 was stunning. Visually, it was a masterpiece , but the brilliance of it extends past what you can see. It was funny, sad, and an overall very thought-provoking watch. The cast, specifically Robert Pattinson and Mark Ruffalo, was incredible. Both of their performances were full of intention and I couldn’t take my eyes off of them. I can’t wait for this film to get its much deserved flowers because it was just incredible.

I love Anthony Mackie too much to give this movie less than three stars, but I’ll be the first to admit that this wasn’t my favorite Marvel film. I was really looking forward to this watch, hell I even got advanced tickets to see it a day before its actual release, but it didn’t hit in the way I was hoping it would. This almost felt like a ‘let’s tie up loose ends’ kind of Marvel movie, which really disappointed…

I’m literally in love with Sophie Thatcher. She did a phenomenal job in this film as Iris and I can’t wait to see more from her in the future. Overall I throughly enjoyed this, even as a non-gore, anti-thriller, movie watcher. I think all of the classic thriller elements were used just the right amount, not too many jump-scares, not too much gore, it was just right. Jack Quaid also did a good job at making me absolutely hate him, I’ve never hated a character more. I would definitely watch again and I can safely say I’m getting better at “scary” movies.

hours later and I’m still reeling from this film. this movie, while brilliantly written and performed, was almost uncomfortable to watch at times, which i think was the point. Sebastian Stan gave a phenomenal performance as Edward and made me truly empathize with the struggle his character was going through. Adam Pearson was a joy to watch and made me smile every time I saw him on screen. an amazing film, but I don’t think my brain could handle it if I watched this again.
