The most uninspiring work Bong Joon-Ho has released to date. I wasn’t expecting a completely new idea from this like I did with Parasite. But most movies, in plot, are not completely fresh; it’s an extreme rarity to find that these days. But in situations like that, what you don’t want to do is make every single plot-point be unoriginal and rehashed on top of the already recycled plot. Mickey 17, does exactly that. As a Catholic I appreciate David Helling for trying to bring more religion based films into the mainstream without doing something cheesy like those stupid “Gods Not Dead” movies.
