Anora 2024
a fun watch? sure. silly little goons? absolutely. oscar worthy? no.
i struggled to find a real connection with any of the characters. it felt like the movie was missing real substance. the acting was fabulous and Mikey did a great job as Anora (her sharp tongue and witty responses had me gagged), but there was a significant lack of insight into her personal life which created a lot of questions that got in the way of fully immersing myself into the film.

this film was a beautiful expression of what one will do for love.
from the all embracing and at times sorrowful score that is reminiscent of a first love in spring and ultimate nostalgia, it isn't hard for this film to command your complete attention.
the poetic manner in which the girls navigate a new territory, and the sense of mysterious intrigue. you root for them, but know that it's just never that easy.
