I really enjoyed this. It doesn’t perhaps elicit the same sort of emotional response as Fennell’s debut film but it zips along with pace and is sufficiently nasty when it needs to be. I only felt slightly disappointed by a tendency to over elaborate on its ending as it undermines any faith in the audience. However this is more of a quibble. Keoghan is great as usual.
Lots of vim and vigour. Excellent performances all round and the “one shot” concept is less gimmicky here than elsewhere. However it never fully shakes the idea it is better conceived as a stage play and as it spirals towards its conclusion the film leans too heavily into cliche and melodrama. Nevertheless an immensely watchable 90mins.
Full of energy. The three hour running time is perhaps not necessary but the film never sags. There is not the depth here that is found in some of Scorsese’s other works, however it is an engagingly grotesque ride.
