A much more enjoyable watch than Prometheus but still kinda mid. Too many characters that make stupid decisions, and two very predictable twists that are heavily telegraphed.
I’m also left wondering how, if the xenomorph is David’s creation, he received no orders from Weyland-Utani to do so, AND he did so with extreme disdain for humanity, how did the Corp know about it and want to utilize it as a bio weapon in the first Alien movie?

Man, what a mess of a movie. Interesting themes and ideas but all the characters except for Idris Elba are idiots or freaks with weird motivation.
I’d heard bad things when it came out and then recently heard multiple people say good things. I think the initial reactions were the right instincts. I don’t regret watching it, but I’ll certainly never watch it again.
Totally average, perfectly fine movie EXCEPT for the inspired casting of Peter Stormare as Lucifer. He always makes such off-kilter, weird choices that are so damn captivating to watch. The second he shows up, the rest of the film retroactively depreciates in value for his having not appeared in it.
Gorgeously shot, great acting, infuriatingly avoidable horror consequences. I guess that’s the point? That passive politeness and reluctance to take action can become your undoing? Very harrowing ending, curious what the remake does differently.
