  Opposite problem of wicked. Wicked was too broadway musical, this was too movie. Wanted more of the songs to be here. Only the cabaret songs were here not the characters didn’t sing their songs

  Songs didn’t hit. Have never seen the musical but was very excited to watch it. They just felt like fragments of songs with the characters narrating the plot and I wish the songs were more like substantive. I didn’t really get the whole hating the animals thing and the characters seemed superficial but I’m hoping the second part will go into that more. I’m very invested in this movie though for whatever reason and have a lot of strong feelings. Maybe I just don’t like broadway musicals because I was hoping for more

  I liked it but it was missing the emotional weight that a lot of other ghibli films carry. I found films like Totoro, Kiki, and whisper of the heart, for example, to have a bigger impact on me. 

  I love the quirkiness of this film and the profound symbolism, but it just didn’t wow me like some of the others.

  Watching this with Kallen made me hate it more. Also he said dune was bad
