Honestly…i had such high expectations for this film. I can appreciate their effort in relaying the message of the film through horror and there were some great cinematic elements their in. But the themes were overtly obvious to me and in your face. Look at Dafoes one liners to see what I mean.
Secondly I’m not a horror guy (I get it’s soft horror) , so if I’m gonna put myself through it, I want the message to be so good and impactful and thought provoking, which for me, it wasn’t.

So good. I loved it. I’m not a scary movie person ( this is more of a psychological thriller). As an Exmo this movie was so poignant. Both terrifying and comforting in a weird way. Control is the true religion; inside or out of it there is still something virtuous about the things we choose to believe in even tho we can’t explain it. Also hugh grant is wild and terrific (in the true sense of the word).
