Welcome to the asshole of Los Angeles. It’s LA’s last real party.”

    -James McKay-

Ok. So. First off all, can you imagine how the writing process and the the subsequent pitch for Babylon must have looked like? I can. I just watched it on the screen. You’ll never convince me that Damien Chazelle and his crew didn’t ingest copious amounts of uppers before each step of the making of this film. Results? Pure, beautiful, movie-making chaos.

    Babylon is a blisteringly…

We’ve gone too far in our story to actually say the end.”

    -Burt Fabelman-

Film is a beautiful thing isn’t it? Film transports us, its moves us, it shapes us and dares us to feel, to reach for more, to aspire for what’s beyond that proverbial horizon. The Fabelmans is a celebration of the best parts of what makes film so compelling, what makes film so freeing. The Fabelmans is feeling. The Fabelmans is passion. The Fabelmans captures the magic of film, it…

What a hellscape. Obvious pun there. But hey, at least there’s strawberry jam!

Seriously the aesthetic to this film was amazing.

The anthology was so so. definitely could’ve used either longer glimpses into each of the main stories, or shorter more condensed ones with a larger focus on our original antagonists.

This film was so close to being really, really good. But story wise, it was lacking, just enough to fall somewhere in the middle.

    Are you hiding?

    -Kevin-

Skinamarink is a troubling, unnerving, and grim nightmare that’s only as effective as the viewer is creative. What do you see when you look in the dark? Nothing? Then you’ll be bored aside from a couple of jump scares and a vague, uneasy mystery that comes around time to time. However, if you see life in the darkness, like a coat rack being a monster, or a creaking floorboard being an intruder, or the feeling something…

Yet we all remember the music of the time.”

    -Colm-

The Banshees of Inisherin is a delightfully dark and melancholy film that seamlessly blends its weighty thematic elements through the guise of macabre-esque humor. As the film progresses so does its unsettling and absurd nature, all culminating to an unpredictable and frustratingly perfect ending.

Like the music of our time, we remember the greats. Film is the same, and I’m convinced The Banshees of Inisherin will be remembered as one of…
