  Don’t remember if I read this on social media before but I think the Looney Tunes characters are so much more charming than Mickey Mouse and co. because they have the hubris and drive you’d ordinarily find in a Greek epic.   Bill Burr: Drop Dead Years 2025

  Pretty good. Only seen Bill Burr’s stuff through short clips and reels but this made me want to dive deeper. This took a while to get going for me but I enjoyed how authentic he seemed as a comedian without being cloying. Change as a difficult but good thing seems to be a through line tying the special together. If he has another special that’s maybe a little bit funnier than this I’ll be ready to get down and pray at the altar of Dark Woke. Whether or not he’s funnier than Matt Rife remains to be seen.
