Too much going on for this to ever land properly. The whole colonization angle was weird, the space trump shenanigans weren't funny and the ending felt forced. So many characters, ideas and plotlines were briefly explored and then concluded without getting a chance to breath.
Shots were cool, the acting was good, but the script and the plot were off.
He's still sharp but the need to cover all sides to pander to his largely apolitical audience is boring. He can't have a progressive take unless he calls someone a slur, and he can't say something bigoted without it somehow looping back around to be progressive at the end of the bit.
Peak old man rambling however.
Agent Cooper's origin story. Liked how offputting the dialogue was, it felt like a thin veil was on our eyes the whole film, and it only lifted momentarily once the rawness of the characters shined through.
