  When I was younger, I used to enjoy this movie quite a lot. Something about the world just appealed to me, and upon rewatching in preparation for Avatar 2, I can definitely say that it is the aspect of the film that holds up best after all these years.   What a great coming-of-age story. It’s refreshing to see a film where kids actually behave like kids, which ironically gave the film a 15 age rating. The handling of the themes of childhood, friendship, family and death are done rather well, and I feel this could have had some impact on me if I were younger.
