Anora is full of great directing and acting, but Annie’s depiction was very disappointing.
I kept wanting Annie to be fledged out and see her thoughts and emotions. Sadly, she’s depicted as someone simply at the mercy of a shitty situation. What makes matters worse is that Igor is instead portrayed as this knight in shining armor and the hero of Annie’s story just for treating Annie as a person. Very fun although a bit cheesy given the mostly unimpressive performances, but nearly every actor/actress was like 12-15 so it’s not too detracting. While the acting may not be fantastic, there are a lot of colorful and varied characters. Quiet psychopaths, suicidal couples, guys being guys, soulmates, people thrust into a shitty situation, and more, this movie really has all the stereotypical high school archetypes.
I would rather be a ghost, drifting by your side as a condemned soul, than enter heaven without you. Because of your love, I will never be a lonely spirit.
This is an excellently awesome action movie with a deeply touching romance inside. The fighting scenes are like watching dancers glide around a stage effortlessly while knowing there is immense thought behind each movement. I will start by saying that Song Kang-ho is undoubtedly one of the most talented actors alive, maybe even EVER. This isn’t to dismiss the simultaneously amazing performances of Lee Yeong-ae, Lee Byung-hun, Shin Ha-kyun, and Kim Tae-woo though.
