I could feel myself justifying while I was watching the film that it was very very aware of what had come before it, until I realised more and more that the only thing it changed was adding in these alchemical elements that ultimately did nothing to make it a true statement or adaptation of the tale. the last shot is gorgeous, lily rose depp is surprisingly good here, but I couldn’t help feeling…

i cried. now know to never name my child after my partner. I want to write so so much more about this. i found the beginning with organ donation so moving, and that whole sequence made me cry.
