    The first half of Nosferatu was a masterful work of tension and atmosphere. The high contrast and the use of extreme shadow and glimpses made Orlok a deeply unsettling threat and the sound design was so oppressive, I really felt on edge through so much of it.     Upon a rewatch, I once again discovered that I didn't dislike this one as much. Maybe I've mellowed over the years, maybe I'm less caught up in what the zeitgeist of feeling about these movies is, but either way I can appreciate the interesting things this movie did separately from it's downfalls.
    I still think a chunk of it is Joss Whedon backdoor piloting Firefly, and I still think that distracts me from the movie itself a little.
    But it's a ride.
