This movie is a lot more fun than I’ve given it credit for in the past— even the dubbed version, which removes much of the satirical elements of the original cut. That said, this iteration of King Kong might have the single worst costume in the entirety of this series, which is saying something.

A pretty remarkable first half, which is unfortunately almost completely undone by a second half that seems determined to resolve any of the film’s own narrative or thematic quandaries in the most contrived ways possible.
Could have won me back over if they showed one of Tóth‘s signature works being the Brutalist McDonalds in Quincy, MA, but unfortunately it just wasn’t meant to be.
