Erin sort of grates on you after a while, but Julia Roberts does a great job. Feels way too long but still ends up leaving other characters, especially George, as well as the case, underdeveloped. It’s almost a touch frictionless since it has to cover so much ground.

The Northman 2022
Feels colossal in scope — the commitment to using Old Slavic! — and cinematic for the whole run. Eggers is so good at exploring the psychosis of modernity through these folkloric settings that are very much alive in their own right. Can’t help but read “Weirdo American Norse LARPers” into Amleth and his self destructive thirst for vengeance. Rich subtext that’s well-trod but doesn’t feel particularly stale here.
