I do agree that this is ‘the substance but for boys’ (to quote the top review) but this was better. The message is delivered better because it’s more focused on the saying as old as time that beauty comes from within, rather than being social commentary on aging and plastic surgery in hollywood. I thought I was gonna eat this up but I actually spent most of it being confused. The concept is great but it was not executed very well.
I don’t think the relationship between the main characters was built up enough for me to care about it falling apart. I saw this in so many edits alongside la la land so I thought it would be just as devastating, but it was nowhere near. I wouldn’t have cared if they didn’t end up together.Translated from by
