My Neighbor Totoro 1988
My Neighbor Totoro was my favorite movie as a child, and I believe it's one of those films that is best watched for the first time as a kid, when the world is novel and around every corner is something to be discovered. Rewatching as an adult, it still engenders a sense of childlike wonder in such a beautiful, yet simplistic, way.
(All that being said, it loses half a star because I, as a 25 year old child-free woman, cannot stand the sound of children screaming and this movie has A LOT of that).
