Decades ago, my dad used to tape anything that came on TCM that he wanted me to watch. Often he didn’t watch these movies with me and left me to experience them alone on the couch. I was unprepared for how much I love this movie and for how deeply it affected me. I’m due for a rewatch after which I’ll probably add to this.

Halloween 1978
It never hit me til last night’s rewatch but the most terrifying moment of this movie has nothing to do with the shamblings of our killerman.
It is the neighbors who likely watched Laurie grow up but who nonetheless close their blinds and turn off their porch lights when she runs to bang on their doors in clear distress. 😬

House 1977
A coworker showed this on a big screen this weekend so I got to revisit one of my top 3-5 favorite films of all time like never before.
The tender, chaotic hunger of the house is the hero of the story. We cheer for her every time. The jazz is unbeatable, the cat acting top notch. A tragic triumph about the horrors of war and the foolishness of dreams.Translated from by -
Lonely are the Brave 1962
This is my dad’s favorite movie and it made me so sad in such a good way. I saw it a long time ago, need to rewatch in tribute to Gena.
