Love this type of storytelling. Really paints a picture of that crusty youth population of Austin in the late 80s-early 90s, all being born into an america they’re disillusioned by. It’s like an ethnography, this. Takes a good writer.

Nebraska 2013
I love this movie. I watched it for the first time when I was probably 15. I love the black and white, I think Will Forte puts together a really convincing performance that’s so like him and so unlike him at the same time, and June Squibb is the star of the show. The ending always makes me feel feelings. Just a really solid movie, a relic for the future representing a certain dilapidated but hopeful Americana.

The Straight Story 1999
Like meditating in the bath, this movie. David Lynch may be the only one who could have made it as slow and steady as it ought to be. Lovely portrait of the Midwest through some affectionately imagined characters and a sweeping but intimate vision of plains country.
