The Gorge 2025
This film is brave enough to ask the question, “what if we made a movie that was the You Belong With Me music video plus Annihilation but like if it was really really really bad and have the two leads in terrible outfits?”
Not bad enough to be enjoyable. Not remotely good enough to deserve a two hour runtime. Not sure if this could have even sustained a decent 40 minute run. Terrible writing, terrible direction, bad acting to the point where I’m wondering if ATJ is actually any good, and horrible editing and VFX. Just a bad bad movie.

Sophie Turner is great, would love to see her in more stuff coming up.
Jack Quaid is great as the feckless man-baby, don't mind that it's a bit expected.
while not very original, the film was still mostly engaging and entertaining. only real eye roll was the corkscrew bit that they'd been teasing the whole film.

Dune 2021
Not sure about a lot of this film, which I think is to blame on the source material and the adaptation (enormous parts, obviously) but the aesthetic is nearly perfect. Fraser killed it and whoever designed the Atreides armor did a 10/10 job. Momoa and Bautista gave surprisingly not huge groan-inducing performances. Chalamet was good until he did the classic "yell at my mom and say something like 'i'm a freak!!!'"
These are some loose thoughts on the movie, maybe I'll revisit and feel different, but the story here was really lacking for me.
