  not much to say here about labor exploitation but this was very cute and okja-like in the history of bong joon ho’s films. i had a lot of fun watching it

  also mark ruffalo does this deranged trump-esque impression that i just know was his own artistic choice and bong joon ho must’ve just been like “whatever man”

  i recently rewatched this; the last time i saw it was in 2021 during my senior year of college, and i also loved this movie so much as a kid. i’ve since become insane about US militarism + developed a deep and semi-ironic but not really disrespect for japan. like when there’s a flashback of the grandma calling on her community to be resilient during WW2… i’m just wondering, resilient in what way?? in a nationalist fascist way bitch? i have brain rot so i can’t quite enjoy it the same. but it remains a very cute movie about family
