  the most funny and occasionally head-scratching piece of early-2000s digital camera filmmaking not named Inland Empire. the essence of why this movie is so good can be surmised in a quote from the Village Voice:

  At one point, voiceover-Cam seems to be wrapping things up: “Yup, that’s my life in Harlem. The ups, the downs, the highs, the lows.” The movie then goes on for another hour.

  Come for Cam’s nonsense and eulogizing his grandpa in a rap, stay for Funk Flex selling Lambos out of a chop shop and dissing Benzino.

  not a lot of payoffs here. whizzes and bangs a little too quickly for anything to stick. some scenes go on a little long (see: the rocks). first 45 min or so rip. great action and pretty good acting. for some reason once the bagel came into play i was ready to slither out of the theater. ultimately sensory clusterfucking hitting at a firm 50-60% clip. sometimes that’s alright when it’s done this stylized. i left feeling like that earlier…
