ZEROBASEONE THE FIRST TOUR [TIMELESS WORLD] IN CINEMAS 2025
Concert films are a difficult task.
One of the biggest mistakes you can make is not showing enough of the show itself, which is the main flaw here. Instead, it's interspersed with too many surface-level interviews that don't add to the experience or reveal anything new. Another is taking the show out of chronological order, removing any trace of the momentum the set was curated to create.
In the end, this becomes more of a two-hour trailer for the concert rather than a film.
Lacklustre filmmaking aside, whenever the band were on-screen, their talent was absolutely undeniable.

It's right that Jon M. Chu, Alice Brooks, and Jill Bogdanowicz have been criticised for their poor decisions regarding the colour grading in this. They should have taken inspiration from Technicolour and perhaps Zhang Yimou. Chu's fear of it not feeling "real" becomes nonsensical when you think of a film like Vertigo. I highly doubt anyone has ever watched that and thought it "fake" because of the spectacular use of colour.
Additionally, the volume jumps between the musical numbers and the dialogue are jarring.…
