  I suppose it was when she invoked “uhaul lesbian” that I knew we were in for a wild ride.

  About as rich and dense a text as you could wish for from what is, at its core,  a pretty straightforward premise. Incredibly well-written and everything you’ve been told, but Blanchett…I’ll invoke “towering”. Her skill is actually terrifying.

  Feel like It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a sincerely beautiful film. No winks or nudges, which is not to say without humor, but fully sincere

  It’s a stunning piece of work, born of a lot of pain and confession, self-criticism and forgiveness, and recognizing the moments in collaborative art when you just feel lucky to be there. 

  And it’s also impressive on technical and conceptual execution (solid camerawork, great lighting, sound design, editing).

  Another trip to the movies that exceeded expectations, where I learned more about the language and felt inspired by the story I was told. See this.
