Castle of Purity 1973
In “Castle of Purity,” Ripstein manages to incisively depict power and oppression, but his narrative structure remains conventional. Unlike his “copycat” Dogtooth that defies expectations with a surreal universe, “Castle of Purity” tends toward a definite closure, which in my opinion limits the possibilities for multiple interpretations. While it offers a valid cinematic experience, Ripestein’s film fails to match the evocative power of Lanthimos.

I love how I could have just listened to it as a podcast and still been happy
