The Matrix 1999
A really cool movie that took me quite a while to actually watch. I like how “the matrix” can represent any system designed to hold people down and it’s especially cool that it was intended as a metaphor for being trans according to Lily Wachowski after her and her sister came out

The animation was absolutely stunning, the callbacks to the show were appreciated but not excessive, and the overall plot was wonderfully written. But I’d recommend watching the first arc of the show before watching the movie, I haven’t seen it in a year or two and I was confused in certain areas (but not any that pertained to the central plot, just extra worldbuilding and color)
