Thief 1981
Shockingly good for a film debut and all things considered, very reserved compared to other Micheal Mann films. The Mannisms don’t really show up until the third act (at least the more overt ones). Visually it is extremely beautiful and all of the crazy depth of field shots create this fascinating surreality that you can’t look away from. The Long Goodbye 1973
I have a strong suspicion that the book isn’t half as funny as the film is. Anyway, Gould is effortless and I found it particularly funny that Arnie plays the most nameless of goons despite looking like he could crush a semi truck into the size of a soup can with his bare hands. Great attention to detail, great score, very fun.
