If you're looking for a movie to match your seasonal depression, this is the right choice. After this three hour long wildlife documentary, you will be seeing blue.

The movie does have its moments, along with some quality action sequences. It is an entertaining picture that accomplishes crazy technological achievements for the industry. But at the end of the day, its only true redeeming qualities are the story arc of a whale, and blue Zoe Saldaña carrying the entirety of cast talent on her shoulders.

For a movie that does a great job at navigating silence and unspoken dialogue, it's a shame that the same level of subtlety isn't applied to other aspects of this picture.
This soundtrack is everything you would want from a synth-wave driving playlist, but it's shoved in your face a little too bluntly. Half the focus would have made it twice as good of a soundtrack.
